AndThen review: are its bamboo boxer briefs worth trying?

Visit AndThen website

AndThen is a UK men’s underwear brand built around bamboo boxer briefs, a mental-health message and a sharper-than-average sense of purpose. Its main product line is Wonderbro boxer briefs, sold as singles and multipacks, with the brand leaning on soft fabric, day-long comfort and a charity-backed mission.

That makes it a fairly simple proposition on the surface: better everyday pants, with a values-led story attached. Piglington approves of practical clothing doing more than merely surviving the sock drawer.

What AndThen sells

The core range is men’s bamboo boxer briefs, including single pairs and multipacks such as three, five, seven and ten-pair bundles. The site describes the fabric as 95% bamboo and 5% elastane, with bamboo promoted for softness, breathability and moisture-wicking comfort.

AndThen also makes the brand story unusually central. Its about page explains that the founder launched the business after seeing the impact of men’s mental-health struggles, and the site says it supports men’s mental-health causes. At the time of review, the site also promoted UK charity support and a donation per pair.

Who it suits

AndThen is most likely to suit shoppers who want softer boxer briefs for everyday wear, especially if cotton boxers have started to feel a bit stiff, sweaty or uninspiring. The multipack structure also makes sense if you already know you like the fit and want to refresh a drawer in one go.

It may also appeal if you like buying from smaller purpose-led brands rather than defaulting to the biggest sportswear names. The brand’s customer-review feed is strongly positive, though shoppers should still treat on-site reviews as one part of the picture rather than laboratory evidence from the Underwear Institute, a body Piglington has sadly not yet founded.

Fit, sizing and care checks

The FAQ says AndThen’s boxer briefs are true to size and recommends sizing up if you are between sizes. The published size guide runs from small to 3XL, with waist measurements listed in inches and centimetres, so it is worth checking that guide rather than guessing from your usual trouser label.

Care is straightforward but not completely carefree: the FAQ recommends a 30℃ wash, line drying and a warm iron, while avoiding tumble drying, dry cleaning and bleach. If your laundry routine is essentially “hot wash and hope”, bamboo underwear may ask for a little more restraint.

Delivery, exchanges and practical details

AndThen’s site promoted free standard delivery on all orders when checked. Its FAQ says orders placed before 4pm GMT, Monday to Friday, ship the same day, with Royal Mail First Class, Second Class and express options mentioned.

The exchange position is also worth reading before buying. The FAQ says AndThen can exchange one opened pair and any unopened boxers, while exchanges on opened boxes are restricted for hygiene reasons. That is not unusual for underwear, but it does make the first order important: if you are unsure on fit, a smaller trial order is calmer than buying a full week’s worth immediately.

Any drawbacks?

The main limitation is that comfort claims are personal. Bamboo, elastane, pouch shape, leg length and waistband feel can be brilliant for one person and mildly annoying for another. AndThen looks well focused, but it is still a fit-dependent purchase.

The charity story is meaningful, but it should not distract from the basics: check the exact product, size guide, current delivery terms and exchange policy before buying. Good intentions are lovely; comfortable pants still have to fit.

Gruntled verdict

AndThen looks like a worthwhile shortlist option if you want soft bamboo boxer briefs from a UK-focused brand with a clear men’s mental-health mission. The range is easy to understand, the multipacks are practical, and the sizing, care and exchange information is visible enough to make a sensible first order.

The best route is to try the size carefully before committing to a drawer overhaul. If the fit works for you, AndThen could be a strong everyday underwear upgrade; if you prefer heavier cotton, ultra-sporty compression or truly no-thought laundry habits, it may be less of an automatic win.
