Editorial policy
Gruntled editorial standards
These rules govern how we research, label, publish, monetise, update and correct shopping reviews.
Last reviewed: 20 July 2026
Accuracy before entertainment
Gruntled can be playful, but a joke must not obscure an important condition or turn an assumption into a fact. Names, prices, thresholds, delivery areas, return windows, subscription terms and regulated claims deserve particular care and should be attributed or qualified.
Traceable sources
Material claims should be supported by an identifiable current source wherever practical. We use official merchant pages for a business’s own offering and policies, and appropriate primary sources for legal, company, health, safety or regulatory context. We do not invent quotations or rely on AI output as evidence.
Experience labels
A desk-based review must not imply that we placed an order, stayed at a property, visited a shop, spoke to support or physically tested a product. First-hand testing, when it occurs, must be stated specifically enough that a reader understands what was actually done.
Fairness and independence
We aim to identify both useful features and limitations. Affiliate status, advertising or access to a commercial relationship must not determine the conclusion. Businesses do not receive routine pre-publication approval and cannot buy a favourable review or ranking.
Consumer and YMYL care
Health products, finance, credit, travel bookings, safety equipment and other higher-impact purchases need extra caution. We distinguish general shopping information from medical, legal, financial or safety advice and direct readers to qualified help or official sources where appropriate.
Automation
Automation may assist discovery, research organisation, drafting, illustration, link checking, duplicate checks and publishing. It must not lower the evidence standard. Items without a reliable source, distinct purpose or honest framing should not be published.
Corrections, updates and removals
Send the exact URL, disputed statement and supporting evidence through our contact page. We assess material corrections on their merits. We may amend the article, add clarification, consolidate overlapping coverage, redirect a superseded URL or remove content that can no longer be responsibly maintained.
Dates and changing information
An article’s date shows when it was published or materially updated; it does not freeze the merchant’s policies. Readers should confirm current price, stock, delivery, returns and contract terms on the merchant’s site immediately before buying.
